MCHS THEATRE DEPARTMENT TO PRODUCE BROADWAY HIT

Twenty-nine students auditioned and were cast for the Spring musical, Once Upon A Mattress, with an equal number signing up for the technical crews and orchestra pit. The original production of Once Upon A Mattress ran for 460 performances on Broadway and featured Carol Burnett making her stage debut in 1959. The musical received a Tony Award nomination for Best Musical as well as a Best Leading Actress nomination for Carol Burnett. The play is an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Princess and the Pea. Senior Rachel Johnson will play the part of Queen Aggravain, Melissa Looby is the unlikely princess Winnifred, and Mo Dunker is the Minstrel who tells the story. Performances will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 11, 12 & 13 at 7:30 pm with a Sunday matinee on the 14th at 2 pm. Tickets will be available in the Student Services office during regular school hours beginning on Monday, March 1st and are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and seniors. This is a fun show for the whole family. »
