Congrats to the McHenry Honor Band participants!

Congratulations to the McHenry County Honor Band students who debuted a new piece written by John Zdechlik, a famous wind literature composer on Saturday, January 25. These students were nominated by Mr. Stellmach as representation of the best musicians in the county.

SNOW SCULPTING

The MCHS art department sent a snow sculpting team to Geneva, Illinois on January 21st through January 24th, 2010. The snow sculpting competition was hosted by the Geneva Cultural Arts commission. The MCHS team members are Captain Ryan Ehredt, Amy Sticha, Sergio Aguilar, and Chris Hansen. The title of sculpture is Brothers in Arms. »

Another snow sculpting team participated in the Geneva Cultural Arts Commission snow sculpting event held in Geneva Commons shopping center, January 22nd through January 24th. This group consisted of Emily Cisneros, Faith Dooley, Jamie Cabanas, and Captain Rachel Dooley, and was advised by Carol Waldron. The title of their sculpture was Polar Fun. The sculpture was over seven feet tall. The team was advised by Mrs. Waldron. »

FFA NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS

The state dairy products Career Development Event (CDE) was held at the University of Illinois on December 12th. Of the students that participated, Devynn Ziller placed 39th, Rebecca Riley-45th, Hunter Hauffe-89th, Chase Heinberg-100th, and Cole Quick-138th. One hundred forty-one students from across the state of Illinois participated. Meredith Ziller placed 4th at the creed speaking CDE held at Sycamore. There was an officer meeting on January 6th discussing the toy show which was on January 17th. The alumni met at the toy show as well. There was a mixer for North Boone, Harvard, and Marengo FFA chapters on January 19th, at Harvard High School. The job interview CDE is in January at Indian Creek. The Made for Excellence (MFE) conference is going to be held at Oakbrook on January 29th and 30th. Our annual plant sale will be coming up this spring, in May. ~Rebecca Riley, Marengo FFA Reporter »

BBFFA Week January 25 – January 30

Welcome back MCHS Indians! We hope you all had a great break, and are ready to bring that energy back to school. As most of you know, Basketball Fun For All week (more commonly known as BBFFA) is coming up. The theme this year is “Superhero”.

Dress up days are as follows:

Monday- Class Color Day

Tuesday- Super Fan Day

Wednesday- Rainbow Day

Thursday- Superhero Movie Day: (students can dress as any character from their class movie)

Freshman- Spiderman

Sophomores- Batman

Juniors- Fantastic Four

Seniors- Superman

Friday- Maroon/White Day

There are several other activities to enjoy that week as well. Our Midwestern winter can breed a severe case of cabin fever, but you can escape during BBFFA Week. Here is the schedule of events for the week:

Tuesday- Wrestling meet @ home at 6 PM
