MARENGO COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT #154 ANNOUNCES NEW SUPERINTENDENT

The Marengo Community High School District #154 Board of Education has hired David Engelbrecht to assume the position of superintendent for the district effective July 1, 2016. Mr. Engelbrecht will be replacing Dr. Dan Bertrand who will be retiring effective June 30, 2016 after serving the district as superintendent for the past eleven years. David Engelbrecht has served the district for the past three years as the Assistant Superintendent of Operations. Prior to his current role, Engelbrecht was an Assistant Administrator of Technology, Transportation and Building and Grounds for eight years in the district. His professional education career began as a teacher of Industrial Technology/Agriculture for eleven years at Kirkland-Hiawatha High School then at Marengo Community High School. Engelbrecht has a Chief School Business Official and Superintendentís certification and a Masters degree in Education Administration. He is a candidate for a doctorate in Education Administration through Aurora University. He and his wife, Terie, who is employed by Johnsburg CUSD #12 as the Director of Curriculum will be relocating to the district.

Board President Elizabeth Henning stated that she and the entire board of education are pleased to announce the selection of David Engelbrecht as the district's next superintendent. Input was received from staff and community members before the board made its decision, and Engelbrecht was overwhelmingly agreed upon by all involved. The board of education looks forward to working with him and has awarded him a three year contract. »

BBFFA WEEK

Next week is BBFFA week, and we have some activities happening to bring up school spirit for the week's festivities. Monday, January 25 at 7:30, we will have spirit games in the gym. Also, since it's a spirit week, we will have dress up days as follows:

Monday: Class color day (since the spirit games are that night)

Tuesday: Blackout for the upperclassmen, whiteout for the underclassmen

Wednesday: PJ day

Thursday: Nerd Day

Friday: Maroon and White spirit day »
