HOSA NEWS

Thank you to all students, staff and community members who donated blood at HOSA's Fall Blood Drive on October 2nd. We collected 52 units of blood, which is 156 LIVES SAVED!! Our next drive is on Friday, December 13th from 2 pm until 5 pm in room 1403. All donors must be at least 16 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Hope to see you there!!

November 4th will be the kick-off for HOSA's annual Food Drive with MORE. We will be collecting non-perishable food and hygiene items to be delivered to families in the Marengo/Union community on November 26th. »

FFA RECEIVES CULVERS DONATION

Zach Nazimek, President of the Marengo FFA chapter, gratefully accepts the $1,100.52 check from Culver's Manager, Richard Myers. The Marengo FFA had the opportunity to raise money for their chapter through the generosity of Culver's of Huntley "Thank the Family Farmers" campaign. On September 15, 2013, FFA members served food, provided great hospitality, and shared farming knowledge with Culver's customers in exchange for a percentage of Culver's food sales. The Marengo FFA chapter enjoyed the experience of spreading agricultural knowledge throughout the community, and is very thankful for the fundraising opportunity. »

MCHS One of Only Two McHenry County Districts to Make AYP

The October 31st Northwest Herald featured a front page story about the recently released 2013 School Report Card information. MCHS is proud to be one of only two school districts in McHenry County which made Adequate Yearly Progress for the 2012-2013 school year. On-line access to the newly formatted school report card can be found at www.illlinoisreportcard.com. Reading and Math Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE) scores both showed an increase in the percentage of students who met or exceeded state standards. »

Parent/Teacher Conferences A Huge Success

The October 23rd and 24th Parent/Teacher conferences were a huge success with a steady stream of parents attending throughout the conferences. Thanks to all the parents who attended and the Latino parents and students who served as interpreters for our non-English speaking parents. Parents are encouraged to continue to monitor their child's progress on Homelogic and through frequent communication with their child's teachers. »
