MCHS 2014 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

On February 1, 2014, Marengo Community High School will honor the second induction class into the MCHS Hall of Fame. The inductees are:

TEAMWORK 1966 to 1970 Undefeated Football Teams

FRIEND Bob Kooi

PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT Robert Chandler

COMMITMENT Gladys “Penney” Miller and Jim Schmid

EXTRA-CURRICULAR Sara Ettner Glakas

MCHS will honor and recognize the inductees at a dinner at 4:15 in the cafeteria followed by an induction program at 5:30 in the auditorium. All inductees will be recognized prior to the prior to the varsity boy’s basketball game at 7 p.m. Members of the public are invited to the awards program on February 1st. A social will take place for all inductees at the Trio Grill beginning at 7:45 p.m.

8:05 am - 9:15 am 1st Hour Exam

9:25 am - 10:35 am 2nd Hour Exam

10:45 am - 12:30 pm 3rd Hour Exam and Lunch

12:40 pm - 1:50 pm 4th Hour Exam

Friday, December 20

8:05 am - 9:15 am 5th Hour Exam

9:25 am - 10:35 am 6th Hour Exam

10:45 am - 11:55 am 7th Hour Exam

EXAM GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS

• Students must arrive at school in time for their first exam for the day.

• Once on campus, they must stay until they have completed their last exam.

• Students may not leave an exam until the end of the exam period.

• Students arriving after 8 am should enter the school by the commons.

• There will be quiet study in the commons during the day.

• Students who need to miss an exam must fill out a prearranged absence form and get administrative approval. This will include notifying teachers.

• Students are not to be in the halls during exams. No hall passes will be issued.

• Buses will run at 2:00 pm on Thursday, and at 12:05 pm on Friday.

• Students are required to be in attendance during the period an exam is scheduled unless they are exempt. Students that are not approved to miss the exam will receive an F on the exam.

LUNCH

• Students with “A” Lunch will eat from 10:45 – 11:15

• Students with “A” Lunch will take their 3rd hour exam from 11:20 – 12:30

• Students with “C” Lunch will take their 3rd hour exam from 10:45 – 11:55

• Students with “C” Lunch will eat from 12:00 – 12:30 »

MCHS HOSTS SIXTH ANNUAL VETERANS DAY PROGRAM

On Monday, November 11, 2013, Marengo Community High School and American Legion Post #192 hosted the Sixth Annual Marengo Area Schools Veterans Day Program. Over 2300 3rd- 12th grade students, staff and community members came together in the MCHS gymnasium to honor over 175 veterans. During the ceremony, a roll call of all veterans in attendance along with performances by the Marengo Area Choirs and various musical groups highlighted the event. »

HOSA NEWS

Thank you to all students, staff and community members who donated blood at HOSA's Fall Blood Drive on October 2nd. We collected 52 units of blood, which is 156 LIVES SAVED!! Our next drive is on Friday, December 13th from 2 pm until 5 pm in room 1403. All donors must be at least 16 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Hope to see you there!!

November 4th will be the kick-off for HOSA's annual Food Drive with MORE. We will be collecting non-perishable food and hygiene items to be delivered to families in the Marengo/Union community on November 26th. »

FFA RECEIVES CULVERS DONATION

Zach Nazimek, President of the Marengo FFA chapter, gratefully accepts the $1,100.52 check from Culver's Manager, Richard Myers. The Marengo FFA had the opportunity to raise money for their chapter through the generosity of Culver's of Huntley "Thank the Family Farmers" campaign. On September 15, 2013, FFA members served food, provided great hospitality, and shared farming knowledge with Culver's customers in exchange for a percentage of Culver's food sales. The Marengo FFA chapter enjoyed the experience of spreading agricultural knowledge throughout the community, and is very thankful for the fundraising opportunity. »
