The event is hosted by the Rockford Park District and the website is http://www.snowsculpting.org/. It will take place January 19, 2012 through January 21, 2012. The sculptures will be on display from Saturday, January 21st until they are melted by mother nature. This is the Annual Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition held in Rockford. ROB MANSFIELD RECEIVES NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION

Current Image

MCHS would like to congratulate Rob Mansfield, MCHS Math Teacher, for receiving his National Board Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) certification. The process to become NBPTS certified is lengthy and difficult. Rob is our first NBPTS certified teacher and will be recognized by the Board of Education at the January 9, 2012 board meeting for his outstanding accomplishment.

National Board Certification is achieved upon successful completion of a voluntary assessment program designed to recognize effective and accomplished teachers who meet high standards based on what teachers should know and be able to accomplish. As part of the certification process, candidates complete ten assessments that are reviewed by trained teachers in their certificate areas. The assessments include four portfolio entries that feature teaching practices, and six constructed response exercises that assess content knowledge. NBPTS recognizes five core propositions:

•Teachers are committed to students and their learning.

•Teachers know the subjects they teach and how to teach those subjects to students.

•Teachers are responsible for managing and monitoring student learning.

•Teachers think systematically about their practice and learn from experience.

•Teachers are members of learning communities.

We are very proud to have Rob Mansfield on our staff. »
