ART PURCHASE AWARD WINNERS

At their regular meeting on May 27, 2008, the Board awarded savings bonds to Elizabeth Coffey, Anna Tennant and Ryan Langan for the purchase of their artwork. In an effort to promote the Visual Arts Program at Marengo Community High School, artwork is purchased by the Board of Education and displayed throughout the building in offices, meeting rooms, and other appropriate places that would ensure its safety. »

BOARD HONORS SARAH SPRAGUE

Sarah Sprague, Marengo High School Junior, was honored at the May 27, 2008, Board of Education meeting for placing 4th in the IHSA Class AA Sectional Track Meet in the 3200 meter run. Her time of 11:25.7 qualified her for the state meet and broke a 26-year school record. She placed 24th at the state meet. »

DISTRICT #154 PROPERTY TAX BILLS

Residents throughout the Marengo High School District recently received their property tax bills. While some may still be in shock, others are relieved that the bill is not as high as expected. »

Board Honors SkillsUSA Competitors

Eryn Cisneros (pictured with Board President Elizabeth Henning) finished second in the Culinary Arts competition. Dmitry Tchaikovski was also recognized for his sixth place finish in Precision Machining Technology. »

Board Recognizes Pom Squad's Sportsmanship Award

The Pom Squad competed in the Team Dance Illinois competition and was one of two recipients of the "True Colors" Sportsmanship award out of 218 teams and 3,200 participants. The MCHS School Board congratulated the Pom Squad for their achievement at the April 28, 2008 regular meeting. »

HOSA Students Compete at State HOSA Leadership Conference

At their regular meeting on April 28, 2008, the Board awarded certificates to seven HOSA students for their achievement at the State HOSA Leadership Conference. Top finishers Erin Brown, Courtney Maney, Brooke Rickerd, and Jenna Woyach have qualified for the national competition in Dallas, TX on June 18-20. »
